Our Story
The initiative of a solidarity grocery was conceived in the midst of the Lebanese up-rising of 2019 but became a reality in the immediate aftermath of the Beirut explosion in August of 2020. With the collapse of the local currency and the deteriorating standard of living in Lebanon, a group of activists founded the Dikken (previously Dikken COOP) with a mission to make access to food available to everyone.
Dikken COOP opened its doors in October 2020 in a small local at a cross-road in Ras el Nabeh area. It opened thanks to the financial support of some local and international associations.
In February 2022, Dikken relocated and expanded to a new and bigger location in Mazraa area and has increased it's product offering to include fresh produce, dairy and a variety locally sourced items. It has since changed its name to Dikken el Mazraa.
It is now adapting and improving its economic model to increase self-reliance and expand the range of products offered from eco-friendly producers.
Dikken el Mazraa is managed and run by a team of 7 people.
